This morning Teresa May’s advisors trailed a speech accusing four police forces, including Durham, of having no black officers. WIthin a couple of hours the Durham PCC was on BBC radio, patiently explaining that May was wrong; his force has black officers.
The BBC kept reporting May’s speech without qualification. So did the Guardian, here.
Ron Hiogg’s rebuttal is here, along with data, and a quote from DC Waheed Mughal, the Chair of Durham Black and Asian Police Association. So why did the BBC and the Guardian continue to uncritically report Teresa May?
