This is our truth, tell us yours
In the maze dream, the story is quite simple.
The maze has always been navigated by following a simple rule; at each fork, make the same choice as at every previous fork. It’s a simple rule, and it’s always worked.
Except, of course, in the maze dream, the point of the dream is that suddenly the rule that has always worked, no longer works.
My rule, at every fork in the road, has always been to make the moral choice, the choice that seems and feels right according to the values I have inherited and acquired.
The maze dream, suddenly, feels very personal and very sharp. It’s as if I’m standing at a fork in the road, no longer able to make an informed choice. It’s not just the EU hokey cokey that is leaving me baffled. While politicians squabble about the EU I can see the NHS slipping away from us. While fools debate about the boundaries on which future elections are fought, no-one seems to care that our current rules on election expenses are held in contempt by the Conservatives. Local government is being abolished and returned to a pre World War Two state where the cost of benefits will bankrupt some local authorities, and no-one seems to have noticed.
Is it any wonder I can’t escape the maze dream?
